It’s Monday… You planned out your new health and fitness routine. You are feeling excited, motivated then BOOM.
Life slaps you in the face with reality and your perfect schedule crumbles before your eyes.
This was seriously me this morning…
Yesterday, I planned out a new workout routine, new eating schedule, got my supplements all organized for the week and I was beyond excited to start this new routine. Then my house alarm starts blaring at midnight. I wake up beyond panicked, seeing the alarm went off because one of my doors was open. I had no idea what to do, I was frozen with fear, my heart was racing and I ran to my daughters room with protection and my phone. I called the guard at my gate to have him come clear my house. Well, turns out, the wind blew open my door and triggered my alarm.
After things calmed down, I still couldn’t sleep. My heart was still racing and I was just happy things weren’t as bad as they could have been. I finally fall a sleep and my alarm to wake up goes off and all I can think is… omfg… are you kidding me?
It is freezing. I am tired and I just want to stay in bed but I knew I had to get my butt up before McKenzie woke up or my workout would never happen and let me tell you…. I needed to workout. I ate way too much junk food this weekend!
So I get up, getting ready to start my workout and sure as shit… guess who wakes up with me… MCKENZIE! hahaha
At this point, I am feeling so defeated and figured alright… I will just go for a walk with her, get out there and it’s 40 degrees.
Now, I am really like WTF!!! But I knew I had to get my head in the game, stop this petty party shit and figure it out. So I brought my dumbbells in her playroom, got her set up and got a quick 30 minute workout done.
I felt way better and things finally smoothed out from there.
My point of telling you this is because so many of us would have thrown in the towel and said, “I will just do it tomorrow.” Then tomorrow turns into tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow and you know how the story goes. We are all guilty of it.
When you make a promise to yourself you need to keep it, you need to figure it out because this is not only how you get results but also how you build your confidence and get into the habit of dropping that unwanted weight and keeping it off.
Next time you get hit with a change of plans and you feel stressed, do this…
- Take a step back and breathe
- Understand it’s ok that plans change
- Focus on the present moment
- Think of a new game plan even if it is only a 5 minute workout
- Be mindful of your eating or do a day of fasting
- Keep going
