Time to Figure Out Your Diet!
First, let’s start with the most popular diets of today…
We have…
- Keto
- Carb Cycling
- Macros
- Intermittent Fasting
They all have their benefits but work different for EVERYONE!
So let me break these diets down NICE AND SIMPLE!
Keto: Keto diet forces your body to get into and stay in a glycogen deprived state and maintain a mild state of ketosis (burning fats for energy). In order to achieve this you need to increase the fat intake and restrict the carbs to a minimum. When I did it, I ended up with a metal taste in my mouth which I was not a fan of. haha
Carb Cycling: Planned changes in carbohydrate intake in order to accelerate fat loss and avoid plateaus. I still some what do this. I feel I need more carbs on leg days because I burn more and need to keep the booty firm!
Macros: These are your macronutrients, that your body needs in order to recover and function properly. The less restrictive a diet is, the more likely it is that you’ll actually do it and stick with it. You can figure out your macros on apps and sites now days.
Intermittent Fasting: During the fast, your body doesn’t have a recently consumed meal to use as energy, so it is to pull from the fat stored in your body. You can do this in many different ways. A lot of people will do fasted workouts and start eating at noon and stop by 7pm. Some people will go a few days of fasting and latest I’ve heard of one guy going 28 days! You are pretty much dropping your calorie intake and limiting the time you eat through the day.
I was doing this for a few years and loved it but was brainwashed into believing that, I’m destroying my body by not eating so I started adding breakfast to my everyday routine but the more classes I take, the more I realize that there is no right or wrong way to “diet.”
Now days, I do a mixture of carb cycling, fasting and balance. There are days where I eat all day, one time a day, low carb, high carb, no carb, high fats. Just depends on the day! But I still enjoy life, weekends I allow a lot more slack and enjoy my cheat meals! Sometimes those cheat meals lead me to full blown cheat days and guess what! That’s ok! I just refocus and kick ass on Monday!
This isn’t crazy detailed but I wanted to break it down simple without getting to involved so you will better understand what it’s all about. I think a lot of people will hear of a new diet and just be on board without even knowing what they are actually doing or trying to get the body to do.
