- Restricted diets! Shocking, huh? So many of us go on these kicks and end up not getting enough calories which then mess with our thyroid and eventually slow down our metabolism. So first thing first, make sure you are eating enough. If you want to diet, that is fine just get enough calories in. PLEASE! You’ll thank me later. If you are someone who has damaged your metabolism, start upping your iodine, zinc, and selenium. These minerals help support thyroid and will get you up and running in no time.
- Not enough protein. Some women believe if they have too much protein, they will get manly looking. That’s not the case though. You will actually increase lean muscle mass which supports thyroid and boost metabolism so get your lean protein in! Eggs, chicken, fish, ground turkey, bison are some of the best!
- High estrogen. Most women suffer from hormonal imbalance due to processed foods, alcohol and sugary shit drinks. Luckily, we can balance this out with the correct herbs, food and getting active. So for herbs add in Burdock root, dandelion root and ashwagandha. Foods, broccoli, brussels sprouts, mushrooms and red grapes are some of my favorite go-tos. As far as getting active, you want a healthy balance of cardio and weights. Do not just focus on JUST CARDIO. It will only add to the problem. Find the balance that is right for you and if you are struggling to figure it out.
